Viet, Laos JV to develop Vietnamese port

Date Issue: 04-20-2010

The JV, whose capital structure has yet to be unveiled, will upgrade Vung Ang Port and build feeder roads connecting with Highways 8 and 12 that link Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand.

The port, which was opened in 2001, lies on the shortest road linking the East Sea with central Laos and northeastern Thailand.

The deep-water port with average depth of 10-15 meters is close to an industrial zone, oil refinery, and steel plant, and has two wharves that can berth ships of up to 50,000 tons.
