US supports Vietnam’s clean energy development A clean energy conference themed “Smart solutions for Vietnam” was held in Ho Chi Minh city on May 14th with the participation of over 150 Government officials, business leaders, investors and experts from Vietnam and US.   The conference, co-organized by the Ho Chi Minh city-based US Consulate General, Vietnam Investment Review (VIR) and sponsored by General Electric (GE), created an open dialogue for participants to discuss challenges, benefits and solutions in pursuing green energy sustainability in the nation.

ASEAN investors pump $54b into Viet Nam Viet Nam remains an attractive investment destination for ASEAN investors, according to the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.   As of April 20, ASEAN countries had invested in 2,600 projects in Viet Nam, which were capitalised at US$54.43 billion, the FIA said, adding that the average investment capital per project was $20.9 million.

Exports to EU set to rise 75% Viet Nam's exports to the European Union will rise by 75 per cent by 2020, Dr Vu Huyen Phuong from the Foreign Trade University predicted. The surge will lead to expanded production activities, increased attraction of foreign investment and job opportunities, Phuong said at a conference in HCM City on Saturday that focused on supporting non-state entities to join the Viet Nam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

Kien Giang lures over 240 tourism projects   The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang has to date lured 243 tourism investment projects requiring a combined 8,000 hectares, 154 of which have already been granted licences, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
